About This Opportunity

The Student Police Cadet (SPC) Project is a school-based youth development initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with State Police and Education Departments. This program aims to train high school students to become responsible citizens by instilling respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, and empathy for vulnerable sections of society. It also focuses on developing physical fitness, leadership qualities, and resistance to social evils like substance abuse and deviant behavior.

This two-year program is primarily for students in 8th and 9th standard, with some states extending it to 10th and 11th grade. Participants are selected based on academic performance, physical and medical fitness, and a conduct certificate from their school. Schools must be government or aided institutions with adequate facilities and a minimum student strength to host an SPC unit.

Cadets engage in a variety of activities including physical training, indoor classes on legal matters and community policing, field visits to police stations and other institutions, and community projects. The program emphasizes practical exposure and aims to strengthen commitment towards family, community, and the environment. It also provides opportunities for leadership development and personality enhancement.

Upon successful completion of the two-year training, cadets undergo a series of tests including physical, written, and skill-based components. Based on their performance, they are awarded grades and are eligible for SPC Training Completion/Proficiency Certificates. The program aims to foster a harmonious relationship between the police and the community, contributing to a safer and more responsible society.
