About This Opportunity
CHEMUN is the annual Model United Nations conference hosted by the American International School Chennai (AISC), held on the AISC campus in Taramani, Chennai. Now in its 20th year as CHEMUN XX, the conference is a THIMUN-affiliated event that brings together high school delegates from India and international schools.
Founded in 2006, CHEMUN is a three-day conference structured across 13 committees covering a broad range of UN bodies and special forums including GA3 (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural), GA4 (Special Political and Decolonization), ECOSOC, DISEC, Human Rights Council, Environment Commission, UN4MUN, Specialized Political Committee, Advisory Panel on Questions, International Court of Justice, Security Council, and Historical Security Council.
Delegates take on the roles of country representatives and engage in formal debate, lobbying, and resolution writing on contemporary global issues. CHEMUN is known for attracting international delegates, with participants from countries including Italy, Israel, and others beyond India.
As a THIMUN-affiliated conference, CHEMUN operates under THIMUN rules of procedure, providing high school students with an internationally standardised MUN experience in Chennai.
