About this opportunity

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is a highly competitive residential program held annually at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, for exceptional high school students in grades 10 and 11. Participants are selected from a global applicant pool spanning over 150 countries and attend one of multiple two-week academic sessions in June-July, each focused on a distinct discipline track.

The program combines lectures by Yale faculty and visiting scholars, small-group seminars, collaborative research projects, leadership workshops, and site visits. Students are placed in cohorts with peers from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, fostering interdisciplinary thinking, global citizenship, and academic leadership. Each session offers deep engagement with a specific subject area, including Applied Science and Engineering, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Economics and Global Affairs, Humanities and the Arts, International Affairs and Security, Politics and Society, and Sustainability, Energy and Environment.

YYGS is a non-credit program and does not grant formal college admission advantage, but it is widely recognized by admissions counselors and alumni as a marker of academic ambition and global exposure. Need-based financial aid is available and can cover the full tuition cost. Travel to and from New Haven is not covered by the program.
