About
Children's Book Trust is a non-profit publishing organisation founded in 1957 by cartoonist K. Shankar Pillai. The trust produces well-written, well-illustrated, and affordably priced books for children across multiple Indian languages. The organisation has published over 1,000 children's titles and runs the monthly magazine Children's World since 1968. CBT operates from Nehru House in New Delhi, where it also houses the Dr. B.C. Roy Memorial Children's Library and Shankar's International Dolls Museum. CBT conducts the long-running Shankar's International Children's Competition, which receives around 160,000 entries from over 160 countries, along with on-the-spot painting competitions and writer-illustrator workshops. Shankar's Academy of Art and Book Publishing offers diploma programmes in book-related disciplines.
