About This Opportunity
Yi Thalir is the school engagement vertical of CII Young Indians, the youth movement of the Confederation of Indian Industry. The word Thalir means sapling in Tamil, and the programme is positioned as a long-term school partnership that nurtures children into independent, safe, happy, inclusive, and responsible citizens. Yi Thalir operates within Young Indians' three foundational pillars of Youth Leadership, Nation Building, and Thought Leadership, and is delivered to schools by Yi chapters across the country through the Yi School Hub platform.
Participating schools sign up through the Yi School Hub portal and gain structured access to Yi's flagship social-impact projects, leadership sessions, and awareness drives that are run inside the school calendar. The projects include Road Safety, Project Masoom on child protection and personal safety, digital safety sessions, menstrual hygiene and nutrition awareness, and the Beyond Books initiative that encourages reading and reflection. Schools also participate in marquee Yi engagements such as the Young Indians Parliament, the Innovation Festival built on design thinking, and the annual Bharat Thalir Week of activities, which surface student-led ideas across cities.
Delivery is mentored by Yi volunteer members, who are professionals and entrepreneurs aged 21 to 40, working alongside school teachers. Activities are designed to build creativity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, problem-solving, civic responsibility, and public-speaking confidence. Yi Thalir runs in more than fifty cities where Young Indians has active chapters, with strong activity reported in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Kerala, and Delhi NCR. Participation is school-mediated; individual students engage through their school after the school joins the Thalir partnership.
