About this opportunity

The ASTP Space Settlement Contest is a national design competition organized by ASTP India that challenges school students to envision and design sustainable space settlements. Participants create detailed proposals for lunar colonies supporting 10,000 people beyond the year 2050, covering aspects such as life support systems, energy management, governance, and communication.

The competition is open to students in Grades 5 through 12 across India, with both individual and team entries accepted. Submissions are organized in three categories: Document (technical settlement design with diagrams), Artistic (visual representations through drawings, digital art, or mixed media), and Poetry (original poems about space settlement and lunar life).

Participants gain exposure to interdisciplinary thinking across space science, engineering, environmental sustainability, and creative expression. The competition evaluates entries on innovation, technical feasibility, sustainability, and presentation quality. Cash prizes and certificates are awarded to winners in each category.
