About This Opportunity

The BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition is a dynamic global initiative organized by the British International Education Association (BIEA). It challenges students to tackle real-world environmental and humanitarian issues through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Each year, a unique theme focused on science and innovation encourages young people worldwide to think creatively, collaborate across cultures, and apply their skills to shape a sustainable future. This competition is more than an academic exercise; it serves as a launchpad for the next generation of global problem-solvers.

Participants build real-world skills in teamwork, research, design, and communication, while exploring careers in emerging technologies and sustainable industries. They also engage with international experts, educators, and institutions, contributing to a growing movement of youth-led solutions for our planet.

The competition aims to inspire young people globally to study STEM subjects and consider a career in STEM, engaging them in a global enterprise rooted in equal opportunities and educational development. The competition is held annually with a new science and innovation theme picked each year, often aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals. Past themes have included drone technology for wildlife conservation, plastic pollution and ocean clean-up, sustainable cities and smart design, eco-conscious fashion, and food security through sustainable intensification.
