- The Oxford Learner's Dictionary will be used as the primary reference for both spellings and meanings
- If a word is not found in the dictionary, it will be considered non-existent for the purposes of the test
- The exam consists of two levels
- Qualification for Level 2 depends on marks obtained in Level 1
- The exam is conducted in English
- Take the test from a mobile device is not allowed

The CREST International Spell Bee competition syllabus is uploaded on the website for students in grades KG-8. The exam syllabus consists of interesting sections like Word Champ, Spell Spies, Sound Check, Spellacadabra, Spell-o-Spell, Word Connection, Word Makeup, Mingle-Mangle, PictureSpeak, etc. Students can also find a Spell Bee words list on the syllabus page. A separate word list is there for each grade. About 80% of questions will come from the given Spell Bee words list.
