Fee

Duration

About This Opportunity
The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is an annual global competition that brings together pre-university students from over 100 countries to test their mathematical prowess. In India, the Mathematical Olympiad Programme, which culminates in participation in the IMO, is organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
The Indian selection process follows a multi-stage structure, beginning with the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) as the first stage. Students who qualify through IOQM progress through subsequent national-level stages conducted by HBCSE, which aim to identify, encourage, and nurture young mathematical talent across the country.
The programme challenges students with complex mathematical problems that go well beyond the regular school curriculum, promoting deep conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving. It provides a unique platform for students to engage with advanced mathematical concepts and apply them to intricate, non-routine problems.
Participation in the IMO pathway offers significant benefits, including national and international recognition, opportunities to interact with top mathematical talent, and enhanced prospects for admission to prestigious universities in India and abroad. It also serves as a strong foundation for students interested in pursuing careers in mathematics, science, engineering, and research, fostering a lifelong passion for intellectual challenges.
