About This Opportunity
The National Space Society (NSS) spUN (Space Policy and UNiversalization) Debate Program is an international virtual competition designed for high school and university students. Established in 2017, this program offers a unique platform for young minds to delve into critical topics concerning space policy and its universalization – focusing on finding collaborative solutions for the space industry and for humanity on Earth.
Participants form global teams, learning to work together across different cultures, perspectives, and languages while honing their debating skills on significant space-related issues. The program emphasizes critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and in-depth research, preparing students to become informed and engaged citizens in the evolving space economy. The debates are conducted virtually, making it accessible to students globally, including those from India. Past debate resolutions have covered diverse topics such as the role of AI and robotics in space development, space traffic management, and the ethical implications of space exploration.
The program aims to raise awareness about space issues and global challenges, empowering students to develop and implement solutions for beneficial progress both on and off-world. This is an excellent opportunity for Indian students to gain international exposure, develop crucial soft skills, and explore a potential career path in the rapidly growing space sector.
