About This Opportunity
Pioneer Global Problem-Solving Institute (GPSI) is an online program for high school students that develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills through expert-led learning and collaborative projects. Students choose from themes such as Analyzing AI, Disabling Diseases, Plate and Planet, Resource at Risk, and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems to explore real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions.
The Pioneer Global Problem-Solving Institute is a 12-week virtual program for high school students, focusing on significant global challenges. Participants engage in collaborative design thinking and systems thinking within small international cohorts, guided by university faculty.
Students select from five interdisciplinary problem tracks, including AI analysis and environmental issues, applying cross-cultural collaboration to global problems. Successful completion earns 2 official college credits from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with need-based scholarships available.

Academic requirement
Unweighted GPA at or above 3.3 and a maximum of one single course semester or full-year grade at C across all high school academic history.
Open to high school students in grades 9-12 (ages 14-18) from around the world. Applicants must have an unweighted GPA of 3.3 or higher, with no more than one C grade in their academic history. English proficiency is required, and need-based scholarships are available.

Refund policy
A full refund is made if enrollment is cancelled within 72 hours. If a student withdraws after entering the program, a pro-rata portion of tuition and fees will be refunded, minus up to $100 in nonrefundable administrative fees. Refunds are completed within 60 days after termination.
