Eligibility

The Samsung Solve for Tomorrow India Environmental Sustainability theme is open to Indian nationals aged 14 to 22 years. Participants apply individually or in teams of up to three members. Ideas must be original and not have previously received significant funding for the same proposal. Parental consent is required for all participants under 18.

The winning team in the Environmental Sustainability theme receives an incubation grant of ₹50,00,000. Top 5 teams in this theme receive ₹20,00,000 each, and top 10 teams receive ₹8,00,000 each.

How to apply

  1. 1Visit the official Samsung Solve for Tomorrow India website.
  2. 2Select the Environmental Sustainability theme and the appropriate track: School Track (14-17 years) or Youth Track (18-22 years).
  3. 3Fill the online application form with personal, academic, and detailed project information.
  4. 4Upload all required documents, including proof of age, Indian nationality, and parental consent for minors.

Rules and guidelines

  • Each individual or team is allowed to apply for only one theme; multiple-theme applications may result in disqualification.
  • Ideas must be original and not have previously obtained funds or awards exceeding INR five lakhs for the identical proposal.
  • Teams failing to attend workshops or pitch events will be disqualified.
  • Parental consent is mandatory for participants under 18 years of age.

Technology requirements

  • Access to a computer or smartphone with internet connectivity for online training and submissions.
  • Basic software for creating presentations and documents.
  • Access to prototyping tools at later stages is provided at IIT Delhi labs.

About this opportunity

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow India is a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by Samsung, designed to empower young Indian innovators aged 14 to 22. The Environmental Sustainability theme invites participants to design technology-driven solutions that address climate change, pollution, waste management, biodiversity loss, renewable energy access, and other ecological challenges facing India.

The programme is a strategic partnership between Samsung India, the United Nations in India, IIT Delhi, the Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT), and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. Participants apply individually or in teams of up to three members with an original concept that uses science and technology to deliver a measurable environmental impact.

Participants gain access to prototyping labs at IIT Delhi, mentorship from Samsung leaders and IIT Delhi faculty, and the opportunity to compete for grants totalling ₹2 crore across the four themes.

Rounds and format

1. Application and idea submission in the Environmental Sustainability theme; top 25 teams in this theme shortlisted by FITT - IIT Delhi experts. 2. Top 25 teams receive online training from FITT - IIT Delhi experts and submit video pitches; top 10 in this theme shortlisted. 3. Innovation Bootcamp and National Pitch Event for semi-finalists at IIT Delhi with prototyping access and Samsung office visits; top 5 selected. 4. Grand Finale in Delhi NCR with 1-on-1 mentoring from Samsung, IIT Delhi, and industry experts; one winning team selected from the Environmental Sustainability theme.

How entries are judged

Ideas are evaluated on innovation and creativity, impact and feasibility, scalability, and technical execution capability.

Selection process

Initial screening by FITT - IIT Delhi experts based on relevance to a social problem, technical feasibility, market potential, and team competence. Subsequent rounds involve evaluation of video pitches, prototype development, and final pitches to a jury.
