About This Opportunity

The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition is the world's oldest international writing competition for schools, organized by the Royal Commonwealth Society since 1883. This prestigious contest encourages young writers to explore themes that matter, weaving personal, cultural, and historical narratives together.

Participation is open to young writers from any Commonwealth nation or territory. The competition is divided into two categories: the Junior Category for participants under the age of 14, and the Senior Category for those aged 14-18. Entrants from non-Commonwealth regions can also participate by submitting their entries via their local Royal Commonwealth Society branch.

Winners receive a fully funded international trip to London to attend a grand Awards Ceremony at a Royal Palace, gaining global recognition. Outstanding entries are acknowledged with Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, and all successful participants receive a Certificate of Participation. The competition provides an enriching experience that develops critical research, writing abilities, and innovative thinking.

This competition is a celebration of creative thought and diverse narratives, empowering young writers to push their creative limits and emerge as influential voices. It offers invaluable learning experiences and opportunities for international recognition and networking.
