About This Opportunity

The WRC Drone Rescue Challenge, organized by the All India Council For Robotics & Automation (AICRA), is an engaging competition designed to cultivate creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking among young innovators. This challenge focuses on the practical application of drone technology for simulated rescue missions in disaster scenarios. Participants will gain hands-on experience in navigating complex environments, identifying casualties, and strategizing effective rescue operations using custom-built drones.

This competition is open to students from colleges, universities, and vocational institutions across India. Student groups within the defined age range can also form teams. Teams must consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 members. A key requirement is that participants must design and construct their own drones according to specified dimensions and weight limits; commercially available drone kits are not permitted.

Participants will develop valuable skills in drone design, construction, and piloting, alongside enhancing their proficiency in robotics, programming, and strategic problem-solving. All participants receive a certification of participation from AICRA, a recognized body in robotics and automation. Winning teams are eligible for cash prizes up to INR 1,25,000, providing significant recognition and incentive.

The competition features multiple rounds, including a field survey and a rescue round, where teams earn points for successfully identifying and rescuing virtual casualties within a time limit. The event emphasizes precision, strategic thinking, and innovation in applying drone technology to real-world humanitarian challenges, preparing students for future careers in this rapidly evolving field.
