About This Opportunity
The YJI Multimedia News Contest is a category within the annual Youth Journalism International (YJI) contest, recognizing outstanding video and multimedia news reporting by young journalists aged 19 and under. Participants submit multimedia news pieces that combine video, audio, text, and visual elements to report on newsworthy events and topics.
Open to non-professional journalists worldwide, the contest accepts entries from school publications, personal platforms, and other venues. Audio and video entries are accepted alongside mixed-media formats. All work must have been published or broadcast in English during the previous calendar year. Both individual and team entries are accepted.
All entries are evaluated by a global panel of more than two dozen judges including professional journalists, teachers, and media experts. Judges assess the integration of written content with visual and audio elements. Winners from first place to honorable mention receive custom-made award certificates.
The contest is conducted entirely online through the YJI entry form. Entry requires a public link to the published multimedia content. Fee waivers are available for individuals experiencing financial hardship.
