About this opportunity

YMUN South Asia is a three-day virtual Model UN conference for high school students worldwide. It provides a platform for delegates to engage in debate and diplomacy, addressing complex global challenges and fostering leadership development. This conference aims to cultivate meaningful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving among young leaders.

Participants aged 13-19, currently in middle/secondary school or recent high school graduates, are welcome. No prior Model UN experience is required, as the conference supports all skill levels. Delegates will develop essential skills in public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking, alongside gaining insights into Yale admissions and networking with global peers.

The conference spans three days, featuring multiple committee sessions, engaging speaker events, skill-building workshops, and social programming. Delegates participate in formal debate, moderated caucuses, and unmoderated caucuses to discuss and resolve global issues.

How entries are judged

Awards are based on holistic evaluation, considering participation (impromptu speaking, interaction, leading debate, sending private messages, engaging with chairs, writing working papers/resolutions), skill (eloquence, conviction, teamwork, committee leadership), and position paper quality (research, communication, language skills).

Selection process

Delegate selection is based on registration completion and adherence to eligibility requirements. Financial aid is allocated based on demonstrated need and interest.

Fees & financial support

Fee details

Delegate Fee: Early Bird - $249 USD, Regular Registration - $289 USD. Advisor Fee: $80 USD. Payment should be made through the Typeform registration link on the website. All deadlines are 23:59, India Standard Time.

Financial support

YMUN South Asia offers financial aid in the form of registration fee waivers. Aid is granted on an individual basis based on financial need and demonstrated interest. Applicants must submit a separate financial aid application. Results are typically announced within 2–3 weeks of submission.

Refund policy

100% refunds are permitted within 7 days after payment and registration. For cancellations made more than 60 days before the event starts, 40% of the total registration fee will be charged. For cancellations made between 31 and 60 days before the program, 60% of the fee will be charged. For cancellations made between 8 and 30 days before the program, 80% of the fee will be charged. For cancellations made 7 days or less before the program, the full registration fee will be charged. Exceptions for serious medical conditions or significant hardship may be considered with valid proof, which must be submitted at least 7 working days before the event.
