Bookaroo Trust

Bookaroo Trust is a registered public charitable trust that organizes Bookaroo, an annual children's literature festival held across multiple Indian cities. The trust brings together authors, illustrators, and storytellers to engage children directly with books through readings, workshops, and interactive sessions focused on reading for pleasure. The trust traces its origins to Eureka, India's first exclusive children's bookstore, established in 2003 by co-founders who went on to launch the Bookaroo festival in 2008. Since then, the festival has expanded to dozens of editions held in cities across India, along with international editions in Malaysia and Sri Lanka. Bookaroo Trust's programming centers on connecting children roughly four to fourteen years old with contemporary and classic children's literature through free festival sessions, dramatised readings, art and craft activities, and creative writing workshops. The trust's work was recognized with the Literary Festival Award at the London Book Fair's International Excellence Awards in 2017, marking the first time an Indian children's literature festival received international recognition. The trust operates as an 80G and 12A registered nonprofit, drawing support through CSR partnerships to sustain its mission of reconnecting children with the joy of reading.
