About
The Commonwealth Chess Association is the international body that represents and promotes chess among the nations of the Commonwealth. It sanctions the annual Commonwealth Chess Championship, which a host national federation organises on its behalf and on behalf of the International Chess Federation. Formed in 1981, the association brings together Commonwealth member federations across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Its championships are played under the FIDE Laws of Chess, award FIDE-rated results and direct international titles, and span an Open event alongside women, senior, junior and youth age-group sections. The association works with national federations to coordinate entries and uphold uniform rules and fair-play standards, while remaining neutral in the internal affairs of member federations. Indian players enter Commonwealth events through the All India Chess Federation.
