About

The Greater Bombay Science Teachers' Association (GBSTA) is a prominent educational NGO established in 1981, dedicated to promoting science education and fostering scientific temper among students. The association organizes various programs and competitions to encourage young minds to explore the world of science. GBSTA is widely recognized for conducting the Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition (DHBBVC) annually, a four-stage examination for 6th and 9th standard students across Maharashtra and other regions of India. This competition aims to arouse curiosity, develop problem-solving attitudes, and enhance observational and motor skills in young scientists. Beyond the DHBBVC, GBSTA offers the Science Enrichment Program (SEP), a three-year integrated program for students in standards 7 to 9, focusing on hands-on learning through workshops, field trips, and experiments. The association also conducts workshops for teachers and students, assists the Education Department with orientation programs, and organizes science exhibitions and environmental awareness activities. The association's programs are designed to prepare students for competitive exams like the National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS), the first level of the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO). GBSTA's alumni have been placed at prestigious institutes of national and international repute, including IISc, IISER, NISER, IIIT, and IIT. The organization is registered as E12152(BOM) and is committed to popularizing science through its initiatives.
