About

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) is a distinguished voluntary organization established in 1984 by the visionary Dr. D. P. Khandelwal and other dedicated physics educators. With a profound mission to elevate the quality of physics teaching and empower teachers across all educational levels in India, IAPT has grown into the nation's largest voluntary body of physics and science teachers. It proudly boasts over 10,000 life members, including school, college, and university faculty, researchers, and science administrators, with a significant presence both nationally and internationally. IAPT operates effectively at the grassroots level through 22 autonomous regional councils, ensuring coordinated efforts nationwide. The association organizes a wide array of impactful academic programs and activities, such as national seminars, conferences, hands-on workshops, and prestigious competitions for both teachers and students. Notably, IAPT is pivotal in conducting the National Standard Examinations (NSEs), which serve as the crucial first stage for selection to the International Science Olympiads. Committed to fostering scientific temper, promoting cutting-edge research in physics education, and empowering students and teachers through innovation and knowledge sharing, all IAPT initiatives are driven by voluntary contributions, underscoring its profound dedication to societal service and the advancement of science education in India.
