About
The Karate India Organization (KIO) serves as the official national governing body for karate in India. It holds recognition from the World Karate Federation (WKF) since November 2021, demonstrating its adherence to international standards. KIO is dedicated to the comprehensive development and promotion of karate as both a sport and a martial art throughout the country. KIO actively works to popularize karate among Indian youth and children. The organization achieves this by conducting various initiatives, including training seminars, self-defense camps, and tournaments at district, state, national, school, and university levels. A key objective of KIO is to cultivate talent capable of achieving success in international competitions, such as the Asian Games, and producing Asian and World champions. The organization maintains a widespread presence with affiliations to 33 state associations and over 425 approved karate styles and clubs, encompassing diverse styles like Shotokan, Shito Ryu, Goju Ryu, and Wado Ryu. KIO also boasts a strong contingent of WKF and AKF qualified referees, coaches, and masters, ensuring high-quality instruction and officiating. KIO has a proven track record of successful participation in major international events, including the Senior World Karate Championship and the Asian Karate Championships, where its athletes have secured multiple medals. The organization is committed to elevating the standards of karate in India and increasing the presence of Indian karate athletes at top WKF events.
