About

KidsRights Foundation is an international children's aid and advocacy organisation that promotes the wellbeing of children and works for the realisation of their rights. It was founded in 2003 by Marc Dullaert and Inge Ikink, and it treats children themselves as the changemakers who drive that process. The organisation works across three areas. It publishes the KidsRights Index, an annual measurement of how far countries meet their commitments to children's rights. It awards the International Children's Peace Prize, launched in 2005 at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, which gives a worldwide platform to one young changemaker each year. It also builds State of Youth, a global youth movement with more than 800 chapters across more than 70 countries. KidsRights holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and is an accredited charity recognised by the Centraal Bureau Fondsenwerving. Alongside the prize it runs the Desmond Tutu Study and Care Fund, which supports the education of the prize winner and their family where needed, and the International Children's Peace Prize Project Fund, which invests in the winner's own project and in the changemaking projects of other young people.
