Shaastra, the annual technical festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai, is a premier student-managed event in India. Established in 2000, it holds the unique distinction of being the first student-managed event globally to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification for its robust Quality Management System. The festival, traditionally held over four days and nights in the first week of January, serves as a dynamic platform for engineering, science, and technology. It features a diverse range of competitions, insightful summits, engaging lectures, interactive workshops, and captivating exhibitions. Shaastra attracts a wide audience, including school students, university students, academicians, and professionals from across India and abroad, fostering a vibrant environment for showcasing knowledge and enthusiasm. Beyond the festivities, Shaastra is committed to promoting innovation and translating ideas into real-world solutions through initiatives like the Industrial Open House and Research Expo. The festival also integrates a strong social campaign component, actively contributing to societal betterment through various impactful initiatives, such as BLINK for visually impaired and SYNK for recycling.
