The Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala is the state agency responsible for the welfare of differently abled persons, senior citizens, women, transgender persons and other socially disadvantaged groups in Kerala. The department designs and administers a wide range of welfare schemes, scholarships and rehabilitation programmes funded by the state government. Through offices in every district headed by District Social Justice Officers, the department delivers services such as scholarships for differently abled students, pensions for vulnerable groups, child protection and care services, and rehabilitation support. The Suneethi citizen platform serves as the digital portal for online applications and grievance redressal. The department operates a network of special schools, residential institutions, model child care centres and de-addiction centres across Kerala. Its programmes are designed to enable inclusion, education and economic security for persons with disabilities, women in distress and other vulnerable communities in the state.
