About

The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu is the official sports body of the Government of Tamil Nadu, responsible for promoting sport and physical fitness across the state. It identifies and develops athletic talent, builds and manages sports infrastructure, and runs coaching and competition programmes. The authority operates under the state's Department of Youth Welfare and Sports Development and works through district sports offices across Tamil Nadu. Its programmes range from grassroots talent spotting and coaching camps to sports hostels and large state-wide competitions. Among its flagship initiatives is the Chief Minister's Trophy, a mass-participation, multi-sport competition that draws students and residents into sport across many disciplines, alongside schemes such as Learn to Swim, summer coaching camps, sports hostels and talent spotting.
