About

The Diana Award is a registered charity set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales. It states its mission as developing and inspiring positive change in the future of young people, and empowering young people to lead that change through initiatives which unlock their potential, inspire action and create opportunities. The charity operates five programme areas: Award and Development, Anti-Bullying, Mentoring, Young Changemakers and the Inspire Series. Its best known strand is the Diana Award itself, a nomination-based honour for young people aged 16 to 24 who have led sustained social action or humanitarian work. A separate Legacy Award, presented every two years, recognises a small number of previous Diana Award recipients who have shown outstanding sustained impact. The organisation is a registered charity holding charity numbers 1117288 and SC041916, and a company limited by guarantee registered under number 5739137. It marked the twenty fifth anniversary of its founding in 2024/25. Since 2020 it has recognised young social activists in over 80 countries across six continents, and up to 200 young people receive the Diana Award each year.
