The Times NIE (Times of India)

Times NIE (Newspaper in Education) is the schools education initiative of The Times of India, part of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. Established in 1985, it partners with schools across India to bring journalism, media literacy, and critical thinking into the classroom. The initiative runs student-facing programs such as the Times NIE Summer Journalism Workshop, alongside ongoing school subscriptions that give students access to curated news content, real-world writing exercises, and newsroom-style activities. Content is organized into tracks such as Hot Off The Press and Critical Thinking, designed to build reading habits and analytical skills. Times NIE partners with schools across multiple Indian cities and works with school administrators, teachers, and student editors to run events, competitions, and workshops through the academic year, aiming to build informed, curious, and responsible young citizens.
