About this opportunity
The Dinosaur Fossil Park and Museum at Raiyoli is a visit to a real dinosaur excavation site, where fossils remain embedded in the rock, paired with a modern museum on Indian palaeontology.
Geological Survey of India teams found dinosaur bones and egg clutches here from 1981 onward, and the remains of at least 13 species have been recorded. The carnivorous Rajasaurus narmadensis was described from material collected in this area.
The museum covers about 25,000 square feet across ten galleries in the basement and on the ground floor. It holds around 40 dinosaur sculptures, a 3-D film on Rajasaurus narmadensis, a time machine walk-through, a 5-D theatre, virtual reality films and an interactive Dino fun zone built for children.
This is an open visit rather than a taught course. There is no enrolment, no syllabus and no assessment; visitors pay the published entry rate at the site and move through the fossil park and the galleries at their own pace. Gujarat Tourism lists registered tourist guides for the site for those who want a guided walk.
