About this opportunity
The CBSE table tennis championship for Under-19 is entered, played and medalled as its own age group. A player must be within the Under-19 age group as on 31 December of the year of the competition.
Only bona fide students of CBSE affiliated private schools may take part, and a student who has failed twice in a particular class is not eligible. A player may move up into a senior age group, but doing so forfeits participation in their own group.
The championship is played cluster and then national. Table tennis is not held at zonal level. A school enters the cluster meet, and the winning team and the first runner up in each age group, separately for boys and girls, go to the CBSE Nationals along with the top four individual players. A school may send one team per age category, separately for boys and girls. A team is a minimum of three and a maximum of four players.

Gold, silver and bronze medals go to the winners, and merit certificates to the placed players. Every participant who plays receives a participation certificate, generated online. Medals are sent to the organising school by the CBSE Sports Cell.

Selection process
At the cluster meet, the winning team and the first runner up in each age group and category qualify for the nationals, and the top four individual players in each age group and category qualify for the national individual championship. Team composition cannot change between cluster and national level.
How to apply

- 2The school completes Apply to Participate for table tennis in the Under-19 age group, which is mandatory and separate from registration
- 3The school emails the organising school to confirm participation at least one week before the meet

Fees & financial support
Fee details
CBSE charges no per student entry fee for the championship. The board collects an annual sports fee of Rs 10,000 from every private affiliated school, added automatically when the school registers its classes IX to XII students, so the cost sits with the school rather than the family. A late fee does apply to a school that registers or applies after the last date: Rs 500 per student for up to seven days late and Rs 1,000 per student for eight to fourteen days. Travel, food and kit are paid for by the participating school or the family.
