Boys and girls who remain under 15 throughout the season are eligible. Younger players may also enter. Every player needs an active BAI player ID and must be entered by the state badminton association. A player may enter at most three events in a tournament.

Recent BAI circulars pay Rs 6,00,000 across the five Under-15 events of each tournament. In each Under-15 singles event the winner receives Rs 58,000 and the runner-up Rs 29,000, with prize money for the semi-finalists and quarter-finalists. In each Under-15 doubles event the winning pair receives Rs 62,000 and the runners-up Rs 30,000, with prize money for the semi-finalists. BAI pays prize money directly to the player, with no tax deducted.

Fee details
Entry fees are paid to the organizers: Rs 1,000 per player for each singles event and Rs 2,000 per pair for each doubles event. A walkover still costs the fee, which the state association recovers from the player. Every player also needs a BAI player ID, which costs Rs 3,000 to register and Rs 1,000 a year to renew. Travel and stay are the family's own cost; organizers arrange lunch for main-draw players.

The Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament (Under-15) is a national ranking tournament run by the Badminton Association of India (BAI). Players under 15 compete for prize money and for points on BAI's Under-15 national ranking.
BAI holds several of these tournaments each season. Each one is hosted by a state association at a venue named in BAI's annual calendar. The Under-15 events are Boys Singles, Girls Singles, Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles, and each has its own draw and its own prizes. The Under-17 events run at the same venue on the same days, and an Under-15 player may enter them too, within the limit of three events per tournament.
Entry is only through the player's state badminton association, and every player needs a BAI player ID. In singles, 30 of the 64 main-draw places go by national ranking, 2 go to host-state players and 32 to qualifiers. In doubles, 15 of the 32 places go by ranking, 1 to the host state and 16 to qualifiers.
Results feed the Under-15 national ranking. The ranking decides seeding and direct entry at later tournaments, and BAI's selectors weigh it when they pick India's sub-junior and junior teams.
Rounds & format
Players without a direct place start in the qualifying draw over the first five days. Qualifiers then join the ranked players in a knockout main draw over four days: the first rounds, pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. BAI publishes the Main and Qualifying list after entries close, and the draw is made at the venue a day before each stage.
How entries are judged
Matches are decided on court under the Laws of Badminton as applied by BAI. Each match is best of three games; BAI's current format is games of 15 points each, with an extension up to 21 points. Winners advance through the knockout draw. There is no subjective judging.
Selection process
Entry is through state badminton associations only; BAI accepts no direct entries from players. Main-draw places go first by BAI's current Under-15 ranking, then to players of the host state, and the rest are won in the qualifying draw, which has no size limit. Seeding follows the same ranking. On court, winners advance through the knockout draw, and ranking points depend on how far a player goes.

Players born on or after 1 January 2012 with an active BAI player ID, entered by their state badminton association. They may also enter Under-17 events, up to three events in all.
