About this opportunity
Chennai Snake Park Trust runs certified education programmes on snakes and other reptiles, tailored to school groups, college students, teachers, general visitors and uniformed services personnel.
School sessions cover the ecological value of snakes, why they matter to conservation, how to tell venomous species from harmless ones, and snakebite first aid and management. College sessions go further into systematics, ethology, natural history, biogeography and scientific writing, and veterinary students can join husbandry and conservation projects.
Sessions are led by the Deputy Director for Education and Training along with colleagues from the Trust's research centre, using the learning centre, the live reptile enclosures and interpretive display boards. Most of these programmes are certified, with participants receiving certificates at the end.
Beyond scheduled group sessions, the Trust runs one-day and two-day workshops on biodiversity, wildlife conservation and snakebite mitigation, and guided reptile tours during Wildlife Week. Specialised or custom programmes are considered case by case by the education office.
