About This Opportunity
The European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) is a highly esteemed international mathematics competition exclusively for high school female students who demonstrate exceptional talent and passion for mathematics. This competition aims to inspire and encourage young women to excel in mathematics and pursue advanced studies and careers in STEM fields. India has consistently participated in EGMO since 2015, with its teams achieving notable success on the global stage.
Participation in EGMO is strictly by invitation, with each country nominating a team of up to four female participants. For Indian students, the selection process is comprehensive and involves multiple stages of the national Mathematical Olympiad program, including the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM), Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO), and Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO). Top-performing girls from these stages are invited to a specialized training camp, from which the final team is meticulously selected.
EGMO offers a unique and invaluable opportunity for mathematically gifted young women to challenge their abilities, develop advanced problem-solving and critical mathematical reasoning skills, and engage in enriching cultural and academic interactions with peers from around the world. This experience significantly enhances their mathematical creativity and ingenuity, providing a strong foundation and competitive advantage for higher education and promising career prospects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
