European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) Board

About

The European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) Board serves as the guiding force behind the annual European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad, a premier international mathematics competition designed for high school female students. The EGMO Board is responsible for making recommendations for future events and acting on behalf of the Jury between Olympiads, ensuring the continuity and integrity of the competition. Established in 2012, EGMO aims to inspire girls to participate actively in national and international mathematics competitions. It fosters mathematical development and significantly amplifies the presence of young female mathematicians on a global stage. The competition also encourages cultural exchange among participants and motivates young women to pursue rewarding careers in STEM fields. Participation in EGMO is exclusively by invitation, with each country nominating a team of up to four students. The competition spans two days, with three challenging problems presented each day, mirroring the format of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Medals are awarded to approximately half of the participating students, with additional recognition given for exceptional problem-solving skills. The EGMO Board meticulously oversees the general and annual regulations that govern the competition, ensuring fair play and high standards. The EGMO Board is composed of elected members and host country representatives, ensuring diverse perspectives in its governance.
