About This Opportunity
The High School Startup League (HSSL) is described as India's biggest high school startup competition, organized by Masters' Union School of Business, Gurugram. The competition is free to enter and open to students in Classes IX to XII from any school across India, participating in teams of up to 4 members or solo.
Unlike simulation or case study competitions, HSSL requires teams to build real ventures over a structured 5-6 month league. The process mirrors the actual startup journey: teams define a real-world problem, develop a minimum viable product (MVP), test it with actual users, iterate based on feedback, and present an investor pitch. Mentorship from startup founders is provided throughout the league.
The league runs in three rounds over the academic year (August through January). Round 1 (Business Ideation, August-November): Teams submit a 2-minute video pitch and a 4-slide deck covering problem, solution, target audience, and business model, and engage with real users for feedback. Round 2 (City-Level MVP Showdown, November-December): Top teams present MVPs in person at city-level offline events, with sessions on investment pitch design and go-to-market strategy. A public voting phase runs until December 31. Round 3 (Final Investor Pitch, January): The top 15 national teams pitch to celebrity judges and investors at the Masters' Union campus in Gurugram. Funding can be secured during the final pitch event.
