Boys and girls below 12 years of age on the date of the draw. This is a date-of-birth cutoff: a player who has turned 12 by the draw cannot enter, so the oldest eligible player is 11. Players must be registered with AICF for the year and selected by their state or union-territory carrom association. There is no direct entry where a state association exists.

National prize for the top three
The top three in Cadet Boys Singles and in Cadet Girls Singles each receive a prize and a merit certificate. Third place goes to the winner of a play-off between the losing semi-finalists.
Certificate
Participation certificate for every player
Every player receives a serial-numbered participation certificate, signed by the championship chairman, the tournament director, the organizing secretary and the host state. A player who was absent or gave a walkover in the first round does not receive one.

Fee details
Rs 50 per player for Cadet Singles, sent by the state association to AICF with its entry, in cash or by demand draft. Cheques are not accepted. Each player also pays the Rs 30 annual AICF registration, due by 31 May. The host gives players lodging from a day before to a day after the championship and meals until the contingent is out. AICF pays travel only for officials and specially invited ranked players.

The National Cadet Carrom Championship (Under-12) is the Cadet Singles event of the All India Carrom Federation's Sub-Junior National and Inter-State Carrom Championship. It is the national singles title for boys and girls below 12.
Cadet Boys Singles and Cadet Girls Singles are separate knockout events with their own prizes. Each state or union-territory association may enter two cadet boys and two cadet girls, chosen through its state championship, and the host state may enter four more of each. Cadets play only this event, not the Sub-Junior singles or the team event.
Matches follow the Laws of Carrom. Every match is the best of three games, and a game ends when a player reaches 25 points or after eight boards, whichever comes first. The top three in each event receive a prize and a merit certificate, every player receives a participation certificate, and AICF ranks cadet players on their results here.
Age is counted on the date of the draw, which AICF prepares 15 days before play begins. Each edition is allotted to a host state association, so the venue and dates change every year.

Cadet Boys Singles and Cadet Girls Singles are separate knockout events. AICF prepares the draw at its headquarters 15 days before play, spreading seeded players and players from the same state across the draw. Every match is the best of three games, and a game ends when a player reaches 25 points or after eight boards, whichever comes first. The losing semi-finalists play off for third place.
How entries are judged
Matches follow the Laws of Carrom adopted by AICF. A player who pockets all nine carrom men of the assigned color first wins the board and scores one point for each of the opponent's carrom men left on it. A covered Queen adds three points to the board winner, but only up to a score of 21. A game goes to the first to 25 points, or to the player ahead after eight boards, and a match is the best of three games. The umpire decides matters of fact, and the Chief Referee rules on the Laws.
Selection process
Entry is only through the state or union-territory association affiliated to AICF, which picks its players from its own state championship and sends them on the AICF entry form signed by its secretary. Each unit may enter two cadet boys and two cadet girls, and the host unit four more of each. AICF accepts a direct entry only where no state association exists. At the championship, singles are knockout matches, and the losing semi-finalists play off for third place.
