About This Opportunity
The National Meteorological Olympiad (Met-Olympiad) is a prestigious initiative by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in collaboration with the South Asian Meteorological Association (SAMA) and the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS). This competition, part of IMD's 150th-anniversary celebrations, aims to significantly promote a deeper understanding of meteorology and atmospheric sciences among school students across India.
It provides a unique platform to test knowledge, engage in challenging quizzes, and learn about complex weather systems, climate change, natural hazards, and the vital role of meteorology in daily life and disaster management.
The Olympiad is structured in two key stages: an initial online state-level test, followed by a national-level contest and an immersive workshop for state-level winners held in New Delhi.
This event underscores IMD's enduring commitment to scientific innovation, public service, and fostering the next generation of climate-aware citizens. Participants will gain invaluable insights into India's meteorological advancements and its efforts towards a climate-resilient future.
