National Schools Chess Championship Under-11

The National Schools Chess Championship Under-11 is the All India Chess Federation age category for school students who have not reached the age of 11. It is played as its own section, with its own entries, its own nine rounds and its own set of prizes, separately for Open and Girls.

Entries are routed strictly through the AICF affiliated state chess association. Direct entries from a player or a school are not accepted. A state association, school association or school may enter any number of players in the section. Every player must be a bona fide student at a school of any syllabus, must be an Indian national, and must be registered with AICF for the year. A birth certificate from a Panchayat, Municipality or Corporation, registered within one year of birth, is the only accepted age proof, and a school certificate is not accepted.

Play follows the FIDE Laws of Chess under the Swiss system over nine rounds, at 90 minutes per player with a 30 second increment from move one. Where the Girls section of this age group draws fewer than ten players, it is merged into the Open section of the same age group. Twelve players in the section win cash prizes, from Rs 10,000 for first place down to Rs 1,000 for eighth through twelfth.
