About This Opportunity
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a premier youth development movement in India, serving as the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces. It aims to cultivate character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, a spirit of adventure, and the ideals of selfless service among young citizens. The program also strives to create a human resource of organized, trained, and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and to be available for the service of the nation.
NCC is open to school and college students on a voluntary basis, comprising Army, Navy, and Air Force wings. Cadets receive basic military training in small arms and drill, alongside a curriculum that emphasizes character building, leadership qualities, and skill enhancement. The training includes institutional training at schools and colleges, annual training camps, centrally organized camps, adventure training, and social service activities.
Participation in NCC offers significant educational and career opportunities. Cadets gain preference in recruitment for various defense forces and are often eligible for special quotas and scholarships for further education. The program helps develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, time management, communication, and problem-solving, preparing youth for future challenges. It also fosters national integration and provides exposure to diverse cultures through various camps and exchange programs.
