About this opportunity
The NHRC Annual Short Film Competition on Human Rights is organised by the National Human Rights Commission, India to encourage filmmakers to create short films that promote awareness about human rights issues. The competition invites entries from Indian citizens irrespective of age group.
Films must be three to ten minutes in duration and may be in Hindi, English, or any other Indian language with English subtitles. Entries can take the form of fiction, documentary, or animation, and must be submitted in MP4 format with a maximum file size of 2 GB.
Themes include the right to life, liberty, equality and dignity, child and bonded labour, rights of women and children, rights of elderly and persons with disabilities, healthcare, manual scavenging, custodial violence, human trafficking, domestic violence, environmental rights, education, food security, LGBTQI+ rights, and displacement issues.
Cash awards are given to the top three films along with certificates and trophies, and the Jury may also recommend up to four Certificates of Special Mention with cash prizes. There is no entry fee and films are submitted online via Google Drive link to the official competition email.
