SOAR – Skilling for AI Readiness

SOAR (Skilling for AI Readiness) is a landmark national initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) aimed at integrating Artificial Intelligence education into the school curriculum. The program's primary goal is to provide students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in AI, preparing them for a technology-driven future and establishing India as a global leader in AI preparedness from the school level. Highlighting the national significance of this initiative, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced the SOAR programme and conferred AI certificates to students on January 1, reinforcing the government’s commitment to early AI education.

This nationwide program is open to all students from Classes 6 to 12 across India, including those in government, private, and Kendriya Vidyalaya schools. A key objective of SOAR is to bridge the digital divide by ensuring equitable access to AI education for students in both urban and rural areas, with a special focus on reaching learners from communities with limited resources.

Participants in the SOAR program will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills relevant for the 21st century. The curriculum is designed to be interactive and project-based, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with AI concepts, build a portfolio of projects, and understand the ethical considerations of AI, making them not just consumers but creators of technology.

The program is structured into progressive modules that cover a wide range of topics from AI basics and machine learning to coding fundamentals and cybersecurity. This initiative is part of the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, aiming to create a generation of innovators and a future-ready workforce capable of driving India's growth in the global digital economy.
