State Pre-Matric Scholarship for Disabled Persons (Maharashtra)

The State Pre-Matric Scholarship for Disabled Persons is a financial assistance scheme of the Government of Maharashtra that supports school students with disabilities. The scheme provides a monthly stipend to enable continued schooling from Class 1 through Class 10 at government and government-recognised institutions across the state.

The scholarship is open to permanent residents of Maharashtra holding a valid disability certificate showing at least forty percent disability. Eligible students must be enrolled in Classes 1 to 10 and must have cleared the previous qualifying examination without failures. A maximum of two children per family may receive the benefit.

Monthly stipend amounts vary by class level: students in Classes 1 to 4 receive one hundred rupees, Classes 5 to 7 receive one hundred fifty rupees, and Classes 8 to 10 receive two hundred rupees. Students with mental disabilities up to age eighteen receive one hundred fifty rupees per month, and disabled trainees in workshops receive three hundred rupees per month. Funds are credited via Direct Benefit Transfer to the student's bank account.

The scheme is fully funded by the Government of Maharashtra and carries no application fee. Applications are submitted offline at the student's school or the District Social Welfare or Disability Welfare Office, with renewal granted annually subject to continued enrolment and attendance. The scheme is administered by the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, formerly part of the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance.
