About this opportunity
The Tata Trusts Badminton Grassroots Programme is a structured, three-tier badminton development initiative operating across all eight districts of Mizoram. It provides entry-level coaching to children aged 8 to 14 through community-run Grassroot Centres.
Children join through their local Grassroot Centre, each managed by a four-member Grassroot Management Committee that includes a district Badminton Officer and a senior local player. Players who show strong performance advance to a Regional Development Centre for more intensive coaching under experienced trainers.
The most talented players progress to the residential High Altitude Training Centre in Siphir village or to high-performance training at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad. Since the programme launched in 2018, it has produced four national junior badminton champions from Mizoram.
The programme is implemented by Tata Trusts in partnership with the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation, the Mizoram Badminton Association, and the Mizoram State Sports Council, as part of the Trusts' broader effort to build sporting pathways in underserved parts of the country.
