About This Opportunity
The Indian Fine Arts Society (Regd), established in 1932, annually organizes Carnatic vocal music competitions to promote and encourage young talent in classical music. This competition provides a significant platform for aspiring musicians to showcase their skills and receive recognition from a renowned cultural institution. The society is dedicated to serving the cause of fine arts and has been instrumental in encouraging many prominent vocalists and instrumentalists over the decades.
Participants are divided into two age groups: Juniors (10 to 15 years) and Seniors (15 to 20 years). Competitors are expected to be thorough with the kritis provided in the official lists. Professionals and those who give public concerts are not permitted to participate, ensuring a fair platform for emerging artists.
Winners receive first and second prizes in each competition category. The first prize winner in the Senior category for the Sri Thyagaraja Kritis competition is also given a valuable opportunity to perform in the afternoon concerts during the society's annual Music Festival. This offers significant exposure and a stepping stone for their musical journey.
The competition aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Carnatic music among the youth. It encourages rigorous practice and adherence to classical traditions, contributing to the preservation and propagation of this rich art form. It is an excellent opportunity for young artists to gain stage experience and receive recognition from a prestigious institution.
