About This Opportunity
THIMUN MiniMUN is a one-day introductory Model United Nations conference organised annually by the THIMUN Foundation, held each October at Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar near The Hague, Netherlands. Established in 1986, it is specifically designed for students with limited MUN experience, serving as an accessible entry point before larger THIMUN events. Students simulate 87 country delegations across UN General Assembly committees, Security Council, and ECOSOC, debating global issues in a structured but supportive environment.
Participation is school-based and by invitation. New schools join a waiting list by contacting info@thimun.org; accepted schools submit registration forms and pay by early October.
MiniMUN provides beginning students with hands-on experience of THIMUN Rules of Procedure, resolution drafting, formal debate, and lobbying. It also trains beginning Student Officers who work alongside experienced facilitators.
Completing MiniMUN prepares delegations for the full THIMUN The Hague conference in January (3,200 participants) and THIMUN Singapore in October, offering a direct pathway to advanced MUN experiences.
