About This Opportunity
The Times NIE Spotlight is a prestigious inter-school music competition organized in collaboration with the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa). It provides a significant platform for young musicians to showcase their talents in a variety of categories, including group performances. The competition is designed to encourage students to express their musical creativity and passion, whether in Indian classical, Western classical, or devotional music.
Participation is open to students from Grade 3 and above who are enrolled in Times NIE member schools or SaPa in Schools partner institutions. The competition features separate judging categories for juniors (Grades 3-5) and seniors (Grades 6 and above) in solo events, while the group performance category allows students from different grades to collaborate, fostering teamwork and harmony.
Winners receive exciting prizes, including cash awards, scholarships for music courses at SaPa, and trophies. All semi-finalists, finalists, and winners are awarded certificates for their achievements. A unique benefit for all finalists is the opportunity to attend an exclusive mentoring session with celebrated musicians Dr. L. Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam, providing invaluable guidance and inspiration.
The competition format involves submitting a recorded performance for the preliminary rounds, which must adhere to specific guidelines regarding duration and format.
