SaPa (Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts)

The Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa) is a distinguished music education institute established in 2007 by the legendary violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam and celebrated playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam. The academy is committed to nurturing musical talent from early childhood, blending traditional Indian wisdom with contemporary global teaching methodologies. SaPa offers a comprehensive curriculum with a strong foundation in Indian classical music, while also exposing students to diverse musical genres from over 20 countries. Catering to students in India and internationally, the institute provides both online and in-person classes designed to be fun and engaging for all age groups, especially young children. The academy is currently spearheaded by the founders' children, Dr. Bindu Subramaniam and Dr. Ambi Subramaniam, who are expanding its mission of accessible music education. A key initiative, 'SaPa in Schools', integrates a structured music curriculum into academic institutions, impacting over 40,000 children annually. SaPa also co-organizes the annual Times NIE 'Spotlight', Bengaluru's largest inter-school music competition. This event provides a major platform for young talent, attracting over 1,000 participants annually across categories like Indian classical, international music, and group performances. Finalists receive direct mentorship from the founders, making it a highly enriching experience for students.
