About this opportunity
World Handwriting Contest is a free annual international handwriting competition organized by Handwriting Repair, based in Albany, New York. The contest is open to participants of all ages worldwide, divided into five age divisions: Children (7 and under), Pre-Teens (8 to 12), Teens (13 to 19), Adults (20 to 64), and Seniors (65 and above). Two categories are available within each division: Functional Handwriting (cursive or manuscript) and Artistic Handwriting.
Participants write an assigned quotation in black ink on A4 or letter-sized white paper. The entry must be pristine with no erasures or corrections. Entries can be submitted electronically as a high-resolution scan (600+ dpi) in standard image or PDF format, or by postal mail. Age is calculated as of July 1 of the contest year.
Entries are judged based on legibility, fluency, writing competence, and spelling accuracy of the assigned quotation. Winners in each division and category receive calligraphic winner certificates and pen prizes from sponsors. Three-time winners in any category earn Triple Crown recognition.
The contest is free to enter and welcomes participants from India and worldwide, making it one of the few genuinely global handwriting competitions accessible to students at no cost.
