About This Opportunity
The WRC Maze Solver Challenge is an exciting robotics competition organized by the All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA) as part of the TechnoXian World Robotics Championship. This challenge requires participants to design and build small, self-contained autonomous robots, known as Micromouse, capable of navigating intricate mazes. The primary objective is for the robot to find the shortest and fastest path from a designated start tile to the finish tile, demonstrating advanced algorithmic and sensor-based navigation.
This competition is open to individuals and teams from various institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, and vocational institutions across India and internationally. Teams can consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 members. Participants are required to construct their own wireless autonomous bots; ready-made bots are not permitted. The robot must adhere to specific dimensions and weight limits, fitting within a 15x15x15 cm box and weighing no more than 5 kg.
Participants gain valuable hands-on experience in robotics, programming, and problem-solving. Winners receive cash prizes, certificates, and trophies, with a total prize pool of INR 1,25,000 for winning teams. All participants receive a Certificate of Participation from AICRA. The challenge fosters creativity, teamwork, and an understanding of real-world applications of robotics in fields like logistics and exploration.
The competition typically involves multiple rounds, including elimination rounds, where the fastest robots qualify for subsequent stages. Judges evaluate robots based on their speed in completing the maze, with penalties for touches or rotations. The event emphasizes autonomous control, prohibiting human aid or wireless communication during the run.
