About this opportunity
The YOCee Student Reporter Programme is an annual year-long initiative that selects 25 school students from Classes 6 to 12 as official YOCee reporters for one academic year. Selected reporters cover real news from their schools, neighbourhoods, and local communities and submit their reports to the YOCee editorial team throughout the year.
Each reporter is issued an official photo ID card, enabling them to conduct field reporting at events and in the community. Stories are published on yocee.in with the student's byline, and each reporter has a dedicated author page that aggregates all their published work. Select reports are also featured in YOCee's ePapers and eBooks. Reporters receive hands-on editorial feedback from YOCee's editors and have the opportunity to meet professional journalists from other media organisations.
The programme is open to students from across India, though it has historically centred on Chennai-based reporters. Open calls for the annual cohort are announced via local newspapers and the YOCee website, typically in April or May. Students who miss the main selection can apply as Guest Reporters, a rolling option that remains open throughout the year.
