Ashoka University

Ashoka University is a private, non-profit university for the liberal arts and sciences, founded in 2014. It runs undergraduate and postgraduate programs and the Young India Fellowship. Over 2,800 students from 28 Indian states and 21 other countries study on its campus. For school students, the university runs the Ashoka Young Scholars Programme (YSP), a certified summer residential program for students entering Grades 9 to 12. YSP 2026 offered 8 programs: Entrepreneurship, Business & Leadership and Economics, Finance & Markets, each as a 5-day Essentials and a 10-day Advanced course, plus Innovators in Science & Tech; Tech, Data & Computer Science; Psychology, Behaviour & Well-Being; and Policy, Society & International Affairs. Ashoka University faculty and industry experts teach the courses. The 2026 YSP Learning Sprints ran in Chennai and Kolkata; the Chennai sprint was a 3-day program in Economics & Finance. The university also hosts the Lodha Genius with Ashoka University Programme, a 4-week on-campus program with Junior, Science and Mathematics tracks for students of Grades 9 to 12, who are selected through an entrance test and interviews. Ashoka University was established under the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006. The University Grants Commission lists it as a State (Private) University, notified on 2 May 2014, and includes it under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. Its stated mission is to build an inclusive institution of excellence in teaching and research and to nurture responsible leaders for India and the world. For undergraduates entering in 2026, it announced 500 merit and merit-cum-need-based scholarships, with need-based waivers of up to 100% of tuition fees.
